PMA PLACES SHAUNA FLEMING'S
A MILLION THANKS
WITH DOUBLEDAY Peter Miller, President of PMA Literary & Film Management, Inc., proudly announces the sale of U.S. and Canadian rights to A Million Thanks by Shauna Fleming with L.A. Stamford, to Michelle Rapkin, Director of Doubleday at Random House in a significant deal. Doubleday plans to publish the book in April 2005 in hardcover. A Million Thanks is the real-life story of 15-year-old Shauna Fleming, who was so moved by her encounters with American soldiers and their families that she set out to find a way to let our troops know how much we appreciate them. Her goal was as simple as it was extraordinaryto collect one million thank you letters and e-mail messages from all over the country and distribute them to our military personnel here and abroad. Just recently, less than six months after she launched the A Million Thanks campaign, complete with the popular Web site, http://www.aMillionThanks.org, Shauna reached that goal. This book is about a girl who can't even vote, but yet brings smiles and a sense of appreciation to people who sacrifice so much to defend our country. It's about the outpouring of emotion she has experienced from around the country and, in fact, throughout the world. The collection of letters to be showcased in this book is written by people from all walks of life including schoolchildren, soldiers' mothers, celebrities, and government officials. The book will be published just in time for next May's National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM). Shauna was recently named spokesperson for NMAM. Shauna and A Million Thanks have been in hundreds of newspapers via an AP wire piece. She has appeared on ABC's World News and Fox Network News. Two million people tuned in to a CNN national radio story on her campaign, and she has done more than a hundred interviews for local radio and television stations around the U.S. A Million Thanks has been endorsed by country music superstar John Michael Montgomery, actor Gary Sinise, Rev. Robert Schuller, NASCAR, and even the Department of Defense, who has linked their Web site to hers.
